Short answer: Türkiye has used the Apostille Convention since 29 September 1985, but Malaysia is not a party, so an apostille is not available for Malaysian documents. A Malaysian document for Türkiye is legalised in a chain: the right endorsement first (a Notary Public for copies, private and company documents, the Ministry of Higher Education for degrees), attestation at Wisma Putra (Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation at the Embassy of Türkiye in Kuala Lumpur. A document legalised by the Turkish embassy in the issuing country is used in Türkiye directly, with no further certification by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We handle it end to end: certified Turkish translations, notarisation, Wisma Putra attestation and the Embassy of Türkiye appointment, so you don't need to queue anywhere. Send your document on WhatsApp for a quote. What we guarantee: our guarantees.

Step by step
-
Start with the right document. Birth, marriage and divorce certificates come from JPN; for a marriage in Türkiye, non-Muslims use JPN's statement of marital status and Muslims the State Religious Department's Single Status Certificate or letter of permission to marry. Copies and private documents, such as powers of attorney, statutory declarations and company documents, are notarised first; degrees and transcripts go to the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), school certificates to the Ministry of Education.
-
Company documents: from our own orders, Malaysian company documents for Türkiye are notarised and endorsed by a Malaysian chamber of commerce before Wisma Putra and the Embassy of Türkiye. See legalising SSM company documents for use abroad.
-
Translate it into Turkish. Turkish offices work in Turkish, so Malay and English documents are translated. We translate before legalisation, so Wisma Putra and the embassy stamp the original and the translation as one set.
-
Attest it at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya. Walk-in, in person or through a representative with an authorisation letter; collection is the same day or the next working day. Wisma Putra charges RM 20 per civil-status, notarised document or power of attorney and RM 10 per certified translation or true copy; see the Malaysian legalisation fees tracker.
-
Legalise it at the Embassy of Türkiye in Kuala Lumpur. The embassy receives documents by appointment, after Wisma Putra. From our own submissions, we book the appointment and attend it for you under your authorisation letter.
-
Hand the documents to the Turkish office that asked for them: the Presidency of Migration Management for a residence permit, the municipal marriage office (evlendirme dairesi) for a marriage, YÖK for diploma equivalence, the civil registry (NVİ) for citizenship, or the trade registry for a company.

Address: Menara Tan & Tan, Level 18, 207 Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur. Tel. +60 3 2300 2100; embassy.kualalumpur@mfa.gov.tr.
-
Office hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 5.30 pm. Legalisation is by appointment.
-
Services: certification of signatures and seals on foreign documents ("Yabancı Makamlardan Alınan Belgelerin İmza-Mühür Tasdiki") and certification of translations made by sworn translators.
-
What it legalises: Malaysian documents already attested by Wisma Putra. A document it has legalised needs no further step in Türkiye: "Ayrıca Bakanlığımızca yahut başka bir makam tarafından tasdik edilmesine gerek bulunmamaktadır" (no further certification by the Ministry or any other authority is needed).
Which Turkish offices ask for this
-
Residence permits (Presidency of Migration Management, e-İkamet): for a family residence permit, the original marriage certificate and the other civil-status documents. A foreign document from a non-Apostille country carries the consulate or embassy approval and a notarised Turkish translation ("noter onaylı Türkçe tercümesi").
-
Marriage (municipal marriage office): the certificate of no impediment comes from the applicant's own country, the originals are approved by the Turkish embassy, the translations are notarised, and the papers are valid for six months (180 days). Documents issued by honorary consulates are not accepted. See single status certificate (Malaysia).
-
Work permits and diploma equivalence (Ministry of Labour, YÖK): the diploma with an approved Turkish translation; engineers and architects also need YÖK equivalence (denklik), which takes the original diploma and transcript with translations approved by a Turkish notary or a Turkish mission. See degree and transcript attestation.
-
Citizenship (NVİ): birth, marital status and marriage documents, duly certified, with a notarised Turkish translation.
-
Companies (trade registry): foreign company documents notarised and legalised by the Turkish consulate, then translated into Turkish and notarised in Türkiye.
What gets documents refused
-
No Wisma Putra attestation before the Embassy of Türkiye.
-
Copies that were not notarised, or degrees without MoHE endorsement.
-
Marriage papers older than six months, or a certificate of no impediment issued by an honorary consulate.
-
A printout of a digital diploma without a wet signature and seal (YÖK refuses it).
-
A Malay document with no Turkish translation, or names spelled differently from the passport.
Turkish documents for use in Malaysia
An apostille from Türkiye is not valid in Malaysia, because Malaysia is not a party to the Convention. A Turkish document is certified by the governorship (Valilik or Kaymakamlık), then by the Legalisation Unit of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara (by appointment), and then by the Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara. Malaysian offices then need an English or Malay translation. From our own orders, this is most of our Turkish work: Turkish birth, marriage, academic and company documents translated into English, certified for Malaysian government use with a DBP official's review. See certified Turkish translation.

Common questions
Can I get an apostille for Türkiye instead?
No. Türkiye is a party to the Apostille Convention, but Malaysia is not, and an apostille only works between two member countries. Malaysian documents are legalised through Wisma Putra and the Embassy of Türkiye in Kuala Lumpur; see apostille in Malaysia.
Where is the Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur?
Menara Tan & Tan, Level 18, 207 Jalan Tun Razak. Legalisation is by appointment, after Wisma Putra.
Do I need to go to the embassy myself?
No. From our own submissions, we book the appointment and attend it for you under your authorisation letter, after Wisma Putra.
How long are documents valid for a marriage in Türkiye?
Six months (180 days) at the municipal marriage office, so legalise the marriage papers close to the date. Documents issued by honorary consulates are not accepted.
Does my Malaysian document need a Turkish translation?
Yes. Turkish offices work in Turkish, and many ask for the translation to be approved by a Turkish notary or a Turkish mission. See certified Turkish translation for Türkiye. If an authority rejects a certified translation we prepared within 30 days of delivery, we re-do it free.
How is the courier charged?
At cost: FedEx's published rate from Kuala Lumpur to Ankara, with no mark-up.
