Certified Translation of Malaysian Documents for Macau
Short answer: Macau's official languages are Chinese and Portuguese, but its Public Security Police (PSP) also accepts documents in English. A Malaysian document issued in English can usually be used as it is; a document in Malay needs a translation into Chinese, Portuguese or English. If the translation is made in Malaysia by a professional translator, the PSP wants the translation itself authenticated, through Wisma Putra and the Chinese Embassy, within the last six months.
What we do: certified Malay-to-English, Malay-to-Traditional-Chinese and Malay-to-Portuguese translations with a signed translator's declaration, then Wisma Putra and Chinese Embassy authentication for the original and the translation. Our team is certified by ITBM and DBP and includes High Court interpreters and NAATI-certified translators. Send your document on WhatsApp.

When you need a translation
Birth, marriage and divorce certificates and other JPN records issued in Malay.
Court orders, statutory declarations and company documents in Malay.
Any document a Macau office asks you to translate into Chinese or Portuguese, even if it is in English.
When English is enough
The PSP lists English alongside Chinese and Portuguese, so Malaysian degrees, the Certificate of Good Conduct and company documents issued in English can usually be used for stay and residence applications without a translation. Other offices may want Chinese or Portuguese; ask them first.
Chinese, Portuguese or English?
English is simplest when the PSP is the office receiving the document. If an office asks for an official language, choose Traditional Chinese, the script Macau uses, not the Simplified Chinese used in mainland China. Choose Portuguese if the office or your lawyer asks for it. Keep names spelled exactly as in the passport, and send us the Chinese characters of any Chinese name as they appear on your documents.
Does the translation need legalising?
Translated in Malaysia by a professional translator: yes. The PSP wants the translation authenticated as well, and the authentication must be less than six months old. We take the translation through Wisma Putra and the Chinese Embassy with the original.
Translated by the Chinese Embassy: the PSP says no extra authentication is needed for the translation.
Translated in Macau: the translator swears or affirms before a Macau notary that the translation is faithful, and the PSP accepts it for three months from the notarisation.

Common questions
Does Macau accept English documents?
The PSP does: its acceptance standard lists Chinese, Portuguese and English. Other offices set their own rules, so ask before you order.
Does my translation need to be legalised for Macau?
For the PSP, yes, if a professional translator made it outside Macau. It is authenticated like the original, through Wisma Putra and the Chinese Embassy, within six months of your application.
Simplified or Traditional Chinese for Macau?
Traditional Chinese. Macau uses Traditional characters, so a Simplified Chinese translation may be sent back.
