Legalising Documents Between Malaysia and Korea (Consular Confirmation)
Short answer: apostilles don't work between Malaysia and Korea. Korea is a member of the Apostille Convention but Malaysia is not. A Malaysian document for Korea is attested on every page at Wisma Putra (Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then given consular confirmation (영사확인) at the Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, by appointment, for RM 18 per document. A Korean document for Malaysia goes the other way: consular confirmation at Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Malaysian Embassy in Seoul.
We handle the Malaysian side for you: notarisation, Wisma Putra attestation and the Korean Embassy appointment, plus Korean, English and Malay translation. Send your document on WhatsApp for a quote.

Malaysian documents for use in Korea
Prepare the original. Government documents such as birth and marriage certificates are attested as originals; a copy must first be endorsed by a notary public. Public-university degrees need Ministry of Higher Education endorsement first: at least 3 working days if you graduated less than 5 years ago, 7 if longer, and at most 3 copies per document. See our degree and transcript guide.
Attest it at Wisma Putra. The Korean Embassy requires Wisma Putra's authentication "on all the pages of the document(s)". Wisma Putra is walk-in only and returns documents the same day or the next working day.
Book an appointment at the Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. "Appointments are required for all notarial services." Bring the attested document and your passport or MyKad; anyone holding the document may apply.
Pay RM 18 per document (cash or card). Fewer than five copies are usually ready the same day; larger batches take longer.
Translate it if the Korean office needs Korean. The embassy does not translate, but it acknowledges a translator's signed translation affidavit for RM 18. See the Korea translation guide.
The embassy's confirmation covers only the seal and signature of the Wisma Putra officer. It does not vouch for what the document says.
Special cases
Under 18: the embassy does not accept applications from minors. A parent or guardian applies for them.
Korean students leaving a Malaysian school: the school authenticates every page and emails a confirmation form to the embassy (mycon@mofa.go.kr). Allow at least three working days for fewer than five copies.
Language: the embassy declines documents that are not in English, Malay or Korean, so translate documents in other languages first.
Korean documents for use in Malaysia
The Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur cannot notarise Korean government documents. They "must be notarized by the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul after getting the authentication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs" of Korea. A Korean apostille on its own is not accepted in Malaysia. Malaysian agencies also need an English or Malay translation by a translator Wisma Putra accepts (see who can certify a translation). Whether Wisma Putra must attest the document again depends on the agency, so ask the agency that will receive it.

Common questions
Can I get an apostille in Malaysia for Korea?
No. Malaysia does not issue apostilles, so Malaysian documents for Korea are legalised through Wisma Putra and the Korean Embassy instead. See apostille in Malaysia.
How much does consular confirmation cost?
RM 18 per document at the Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, paid in cash or by card. Wisma Putra charges its own attestation fee.
How long does it take?
Wisma Putra returns documents the same day or the next working day. The Korean Embassy usually confirms fewer than five copies on the day of your appointment.
Do I need Wisma Putra first?
Yes. The Korean Embassy only confirms documents that already carry Wisma Putra's authentication on every page.
